Twelve days from now, I’ll be lining up for the Sunshine Run 2025 – a 5K charity event along Newcastle’s Quayside, raising money for The Chronicle Sunshine Fund.
It’s not just another race. It’s personal.
What This Charity Did for Us
When we were deep in the thick of figuring out how to keep moving as a family – buggy running, sensory overloads, unpredictable days – it was Freedom for Kids working alongside The Sunshine Fund who stepped in with real help. Through their grant support, we received our specialist running buggy. It completely changed what was possible.
This isn’t just about pushing a buggy. It’s about inclusion. About being able to take part in the things that keep you sane and strong as a parent, even when life’s complicated.
Running for a Reason
Last year, thanks to so many generous people, we raised £670 for the Sunshine Run. That felt incredible – not just because of the total, but because every donation felt like someone quietly saying “We see you. Keep going.”
This year? We’re currently at £382, and the run is just 12 days away. I’d love to push that total to £700 and edge out last year’s number – but more importantly, I’d love for more people to hear about this charity and for more families like ours to benefit from their help.

Even a share helps more than you might realise.

What This Run Means
I’m not chasing PBs this time (OK I admit I am hunting a PB). No sprint finishes (shhh YES I will). Just showing up, giving something back, and reminding myself that running – and parenting – don’t have to be solo efforts.
If you’ve ever read my posts, shared a like, asked about the buggy, or cheered from the sidelines – thank you.
And if you want to help us push toward that £700 goal? Here’s the link again:
